In a NEJM Journal Watch summary, associate editor Jenny Radesky, MD, reviews “Primary Care Interventions for Early Childhood Development: A Systematic Review” from the November 14, 2017 issue of Pediatrics. The journal article offers a meta-analysis of newer primary care-based programs to support early childhood development. The meta-analysis shows positive outcomes but provides little information regarding implementation.

The article mentions the issue of cost as a possible problem for practices trying to implement some of these ideas. The NEJM Journal Watch summary has a link to the full article at the bottom of the page. Read the Journal Watch summary here.
