Use the preventive medicine CPT codes with a modifier; you can find these in your Provider Manual.
The modifier indicates whether vision and hearing were included in the exam, and whether an abnormality was
detected during the exam. It is important to record abnormalities when they are identified. In recent Iowa
annual EPSDT reports to HCFA, the number of abnormalities reported has been unrealistically low.
